ARTIST & purchase info
Ascend in love is the enduring theme in my art, writing and dance as I share layers of intimate connections with self, 'ohana (extended family), 'aikane (friends), nature, culture, wellness and sustainable living practices. KALANI Ocean-vista Art Farm, part of the Ulu Kai coastal community, is a Hawai’i Island “heavenly” eco center focused on educational nature, culture, wellness and sustainable living practices, in the spirit of ‘ohana and aloha. We encourage all to join in embracing the creativity of the ‘āina, land, kai, sea, and community that nurtures us. My art reflects weekly figure drawing and painting sessions at mentor Arthur Johnsen’s nearby studio, works from here at my Kalani home space, and plein air landscapes. Art mediums including pastel, watercolor, oil, acrylic. Sizes vary from small drawings to as large as 4’ x 8’. Materials may be paper, canvas and wood. Signed originals cost ~$100 per square foot, with giclees available as uniquely altered and signed reproductions to match your preferences for size, color, ambiance,… Thematically my art contrasts and harmonizes representation and abstraction, the shadowy interplay of “Ka PŌ Ka LĀ” edge flow of night and light in passionate dance - to say, do, be love.
Over the past four decades hundreds of paintings and drawings have been created by visiting and area artists, and the painting and drawing continues every week at beloved Arthur Johnsen’s studio, only a mile away. For example see the portrait of Sam Keli'iho'omalu below, which fellow artist Lynne Tuft praises as "heroic, monumental, mural material…hotel lobby potential." See Facebook: Drawing at Arthur’s Studio.
